Dog Obedience Training German Shepherd

German Shepherd dogs are some of the hardest to train, but they aren’t the only dogs that have trouble with obedience. In fact, almost all dog breeds have things that they just can’t do very well, and lots of times dog owners have problems with obedience. There are a few things that you can do, whether you are trying to do dog obedience training, German Shepherd style, or even if you’re doing it with Golden Retrievers. The most important thing is that the dog knows that YOU know what you’re doing, and after that, you can train them to do just about anything.

Dog obedience training always begins with dominance training. When you have a new puppy, you want to make sure that the puppy knows that you are the leader of the pack. You should be able to take your dog’s food away from him while he’s eating, without him growling at you. However, when you do this, be sure you praise him and give him his food back right away. Never tease a dog using food, or anything else for that matter. Teasing a dog leads to aggressive dogs and those are dangerous. You should be able to develop pack dominance right away with your puppy. Then, you’ll begin to see that you can train him to do just about anything for you.

The most important part of dog obedience training is making your dog listen to you. Many dog owners like to use a clicker, because a clicking noise each time a dog has done something good is a great positive reward for a dog. Dogs learn to anticipate that sound and will work hard to get it. Also, you can use small treats for rewards. The important thing to remember when doing dog obedience training German Shepherd or otherwise, is that the best form of training for any dog is positive reinforcement. You want to reward the dog for things that he does right. When he does a bad behavior, you want to tell him "no!" and then redirect him to the correct behavior. Never use hitting or teasing as a form of punishment, and never withhold food as punishment either.

There are some things that you can remember that will make your dog training much easier. First of all, bored dogs are naughty dogs. If you are tired of your dog barking all day long, or chewing up your shoes or other things in your home, a good way to fix it is to be sure that he is in a place where there is plenty for him to do, and where he is able to have his own space where he can be. Toys and chews are important tools in all training, and will help you have a well behaved and happy dog.
