Be Consistent With Your Dog

People like variety. They like to go try out different things and to be in different places. This is the way that people are – but it is not the way that everything works the best. Your dog, for instance, isn’t going to benefit from change in the same way that a person will. The best way to train your dog and to keep your dog well behaved, is to make sure you are being consistent. You want to be sure that this is the one thing you are doing with your dog, and that you continue to be as consistent as possible with him.

There are lots of things that you can do with your dog to make sure that you are always being consistent. First of all, you want to be extra sure that you always use the same words when you are training him. No matter what language you are speaking, or what words you want to train him with, be sure that you always use the same ones. It is always a good idea to decide on these words right away and to use them from the time that he is a puppy. This will help you  make sure that you can train him with the most ease.

When you are learning a new trick, do it somewhere that is consistent each time. Teach him his commands in your front yard, or even in your living room. Taking him to new and different places is going to make it less easy for him to learn the things that you need him to learn ,and you might find that it is tougher for you to train him that way. Be sure that you are teaching him the commands in roughly the same place, and be as consistent as you can.

Be consistent, too, with the way that you speak to your dog and the way that you use words when you are happy with him or angry with him. Using the same tone of voice for him each time that he gets in trouble, for instance, will let him know that you are going to be consistent with him and that you should know what expect with you. Be sure that you praise him in the same voices as well, so that you can always get as much out of your dog as you are putting into him.
