Everyone is concerned with what they feed their dog, and none of us are exempt from it. You love your dog, of course you do, so you want to be sure that you’re feeding him the right types of food. If you’ve got more than one dog, you also want to be sure that you can get food that is inexpensive. Bulk dog food, all natural food at that, is a great solution to the dog that eats too much, or the pack of dogs you simply have to feed on a regular basis. There are lots of things to remember when you’re buying food, especially in large quantities, and if you want to make sure that your dog is as healthy as possible, there are a few things to think about.

First of all, when you’re buying bulk dog food, all natural food is certainly the best. Lots of companies that put out bulk food often put out food that simply isn’t good for your pooch. Think about the cheapo food that you see in the store, no matter how great it might look on the package, chances are it isn’t that great. You can decide for yourself what type of dog food is best by reading ingredient labels. Remember that the ingredient list in dog food is made by volume. So, the ingredient that makes up the biggest percent of the food is listed first, and so on. Look for what the first few ingredients are in the foods that you are considering. Stay away from foods that list corn as their number one ingredient, because corn isn’t good at all for your dog. Try to pick foods that list real meats and vegetables as their number one ingredients. Also, when you’re buying bulk dog food, all natural should win out over everything else. Stick to foods that have as little preservatives as possible.

Remember, something that not everyone knows is that the word "meal" after the name of a meat, such as beef or turkey or chicken, means that the meat in the food can be any part of the animal. Therefore, chicken meal can be parts of talons or beaks, or even feathers. So, when you’re buying your bulk food, all natural ingredients shouldn’t include the word "meal" because you don’t want your dog eating those kinds of things.

Good dog food in bulk might seem like its hard to come by, but if you find a brand that you can trust, you’d be surprised to see that they probably offer a pretty good selection of foods in bulk as well. There are also companies that offer only dog food in bulk, and not in smaller packages. This can be great if you have a lot of dogs, or if you don’t get to the store very often, or if you simply want to purchase all your food at once. Just be sure that the food you serve to your dogs is well within the expiration date, and you’ll find that your dogs are plenty happy with bulk food.
