Dog information on allergies always says that the best way to look for allergies is just to watch your dog’s behavior. Is he doing things he doesn’t normally do, or acting weird or different? These could be signs of allergies as well. There are also physical signs of allergies. If your dogs skin is flaky and dry, he might be allergic to something. How will you know with all of that fur? Well, you’ll be able to see the flakes, just like dandruff on a person. Also, if your dog tries to scratch his muzzle with his paws, his nose or mouth might be itching, which is another sign of allergies. Does your dog lick his nose, over and over and over again, even if he hasn’t had anything to eat or drink in a few minutes? Presto, another sign of allergies. Now you’ve got a list of things to watch for. So what can you do about it?

Well, your vet can give you some allergy meds for your dog, if he’s got a severe case and his allergies last all year long. You can also give him Benadryl, as well, but don’t’ give him any other allergy medications, and check with your vet to make sure that the Benadryl is okay for him. Remember that there are only a few types of people meds that dogs can take without getting sick, so don’t just give him whatever you feel like giving him.

Another thing that you can do is pay attention. If he has more allergies outside, try to walk him in the morning, before pollen and other allergens have had a chance to start blowing around in the air. If he’s allergic to something inside, see if you can identify what it is by paying close attention to his behavior, and then see if you can keep him away from it.  The best thing that you can do for your dog if he’s suffering – according to the best dog information on allergies, is to keep him clean. Bathe him often, because this will help the allergens get washed off him. They can become trapped in his fur and bother him for days and days, so keep him clean in order to keep him comfortable .
